Cash can carry a variety of contaminants. Employees should wash their hands after handling money. Soap and water are best but alcohol-based hand rub is also acceptable. They should conduct hand hygiene for a minimum of 20 seconds and rub all surfaces (sometimes we forget to scrub our thumbs, nail beds and/or the webbing in between our fingers).
Employees handling money should not eat, touch food, or touch their eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. Coronaviruses and other respiratory viruses like influenza cause infection when transferred from your hands to your mouth, nose or eyes or food.
